Law Bulletin Media seeks a Software Engineer II in Chicago, IL, to coordinate directly with subject matter experts and/or end users (within Law Bulletin), to identify and document process, role, and technical requirements and definitions as a function of systems delivery. Operate successfully with minimal day-to-day supervision and reports progress on assigned items at agreed-upon intervals. Prioritize and execute on multiple assigned tasks. Works with supervisor to confirm reprioritization as new tasks or unplanned demands (i.e., production, outages) arise. Analyze proposed implementations for performance, workability and return on investment. Recommend alternatives when appropriate. Evolve and continuously improve testing methods that reduce identifiable defects within appropriate phases of delivery. Coordinate with all Applications Development Team members, across sub-teams to share experiences, opportunities, and efficiencies.

The position requires a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 4 years of experience.

• Requires 4 years of experience in full-stack development, accentuating the specific languages and architecture frameworks leveraged by a particular sub-team in systems design and development of scalable systems.
• Requires 4 years of experience in Java, Groovy and Spring-oriented development.
• Requires 4 years of experience in JavaScript, YUI, jQuery and other JavaScript libraries.
• Requires 3 years of experience in AWS Cloud Ops.
• Requires 3 years of experience with relational databases, i.e. PostgreSQL, MYSQL, Oracle PL/SQL.
• Requires 2 years of experience with Git, git flow, and bitbucket.
• Requires 2 years of experience coding in JUnit, or other standard unit testing frameworks.
• Requires 2 years of experience in Shell scripting, Python scripts, and Linux command line utilities.

Alternatively, the position requires a Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 2 years of experience.
