Description

Shift: 7a-4p

Location: Emory Midtown Hospital

  • Functions as a clinical navigator with a specific set of skills beyond licensure requirements to provide better patient care, quality, safety and informational accuracy for breast imaging care.

  • This role will support the nurse navigator in their absence and provide oversight to the outside imaging consultation process.

  • Ensures proper examination for the proper indication at the proper time. Vetting diagnostics.

  • Ensure that all patient charts are accurate and investigated prior to appointments. Consult 2nd Opinion and Curbside requests.

  • Ensures that all information and images are complete prior to submission to the radiologist.

  • When imaging/reports are incomplete; oversees retrieval of missing items. Responsible for patient imaging up to 20% of the time.

  • It will be the expectation that this role will be expected to provide clinical coverage as needed due to extenuating circumstances.

  • Works with department and system leadership to create a dashboard with drivers for quality metric improvements within breast imaging that align with the defined radiology strategic plan.

  • Responsibilities may include monitoring consult turnaround times, scheduling errors, missing orders, etc. Pathology entry and follow up of interventional imaging studies.

  • Serves as a backup for the nurse navigator. Incumbent may work under close supervision following established routines or assigned work with limited employee latitude.

  • Employee may work under general supervision and receives general guidance on work priority with substantial employee latitude.

  • Employee may work independently under the general direction of their leader.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and registered with ARRT.

  • Advanced certification in Mammography is required.

  • Breast patient navigator certification preferred or acquired within 1 year.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in diagnostic and interventional breast imaging.

  • Strong analytical background including knowledge of all radiology RIS, EMR, multiple mammography vendors and PACS.

  • Must maintain advanced certification and licensure requirements.
